Lieutenant Colonel W L JohnsonCommanded 1/5th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from June 1945-to August 1945.

'Johnnie' Johnson joined 1/6th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment in 1941 and served with the Battalion throughout the North African campaign and in Italy where he was awarded the Military Cross. He continued to serve with the Battalion in North West Europe until, after the liberation of Ghent, he was appointed to command the 7th Armoured Division Battle School in Brussels. On 11th June 1945 he was appointed to command the 1/5th Battalion in Berlin and led the Battalion in the Victory Parade in August he returned to England and was demobilised. 1946.

He died on 23rd April 1986.
