Stoughton Post Office once located in Barrack Road, further up the road on the left was a bakery, opposite The Soldiers Welcome - one of the original married quarters. It was established by Julie Paynter wife of the Rev. Francis Paynter in 1904. It was open in the evenings for non alcoholic drinks and soldiers wifes on Friday afternoons.
