Lt Col A J Renshaw DSO MC
Commanded 2/6th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from 30th April 1943 to Commanded 2/6th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from November 1943 to January 1945.
Alick John Renshaw was educated at Shrewsbury and commissioned in 7th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment in July 1939.
He served with the 2/7th Battalion until August 1943 when he was transferred to the 2/6th Battalion as second-in-command.
In November 1943 he was appointed to command the Battalion.
In January 1944 he was wounded but resumed command in February. In January 1945 he relinquished command on being invalided to the UK.
He was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry at Enfidaville with the 2/7th Battalion and the DSO for his inspiring and fine leadership of the 2/6th Battalion in Italy. He was also Mentioned in Despatches.
He died on 22nd January 1983.
