1959 and Onwards

While the regular regiments of The Queen’s and the Surreys were amalgamating and forming Brigades in 1959 the Territorial Army (TA) was left unscathed but nevertheless felt that changes were in the air. As the end of National Service reduced that form of intake, recruiting of Volunteers was stepped up, but this was not easy at a time of full employment and high wages.
