5th Volunteer Bn The Queen The Queen' Regiment formed as a T & AVR II Unit, later they were re-roled as a NATO Reinforcement battalion.

6th Volunteer Bn The Queen's Regiment (Queen's Surreys) formed as a T & AVR III Unit from the amalgamation of 3rd and 4th Bns The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment

 

 

1969

5th Territorial Bn The Queen's reduced to cadre

 

 

1971

6th Volunteer Bn The Queen's Regiment formed from the cadres of 6th and 10th Territorial Bns The Queen's Regiment, the Greater London Regiment RA, the London and Kent Regiment RA and the Surrey Yeomanry (Queen Mary's Regiment)

7th Volunteer Battalion formed from cadres of 7th, 8th and 9th Territorial Bns The Queen's Regiment

 

 

1975

6th and 7th Volunteer Bns The Queen's Regiment amalgamated to form the 6th/7th Bn The Queen's Regiment

 

 

 

The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (Queen's and Royal Hampshires)

1992

On the amalgamation of the Queen's and The Royal Hampshire Regiment, the title of the regiment became The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (Queen's and Royal Hampshires). The two territorial units became the 5th Bn PWRR and 6/7th Bn PWRR.

 

 

1999

The Strategic Defence Review reduced the Territorial Army and the 5th and 6/7th Bns merged to become 3rd Bn The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (TA).
