Lt Col P H Macklin OBE
(The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment)
Commanded 13th (HD) Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from July to September 1944. Previously he had commanded 2/6th Bn The East Surrey Regiment from August, 1943 to July 1944.
Paul Herbert Macklin, known as 'Micmac', was born on 18th September 1899. He was commissioned in The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment in August 1918.
Apart from service in his Regiment he was seconded to the Auxiliary Force, India from February 1928 to January 1936.
He was GSO II Home Forces from January to September 1940. In August 1943 he commanded 2/6th Bn The East Surrey Regiment until July 1944 when he was appointed to command 13th (HD) Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment. He left for another appointment in September 1944. He retired from the Army on 7th November 1949.
He died on 23rd June 1976.
He was made an OBE for his services.
