Commanding Officer - The East Surrey Regiment
Commanded 2nd Bn The East Surrey Regiment from 10th June 1922 to 13th October 1924.
Reginald Arthur Herbert Orpen-Palmer was born on 26th December 1877. He was commissioned in The Leinster Regiment on 13th July 1898. He served in the South African War and from October 1911 to May 1915 was adjutant in the Special Reserve.
During the 1914-18 War he served in France, Belgium, Egypt, Greece, Serbia and Bulgaria. He was twice wounded and awarded the DSO and Mentioned in Despatches.
On 10th June 1922 he was transferred to The East Surrey Regiment and appointed to command the 2nd Battalion.
He handed over command on the 13th October 1924 and was placed on the half pay list and promoted Colonel.
On 12th August 1927 he was appointed Officer in charge Record and Pay Office at Hounslow. He retired from the Army on 12th August 1931.
