Commanded 1/6th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from October to November 1942.
Edgar Patrick Sewell was born on 22nd March 1905 and was commissioned in The Northamptonshire Regiment in September 1925. From May 1931 to May 1934 he was adjutant and in 1935 transferred to The South Wales Borderers. He served in Palestine from 1936 to 1939 and was Mentioned in Despatches in 1937. In the 1939-45 War he served on the Staff in North Africa, Sicily and France. In October 1942 at El Alamein he was AA & QMG of 44th Division and was appointed to command 1/6th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment when Lt Col Gibbs was made a Prisoner of War, and commanded the Battalion until the end of November 1942 when he was promoted and returned to the Staff.
He was Mentioned in Despatches a further five times and was made a CBE in October 1943.
He died on 8th January 1957.
