Reduced to Cadre.

15th May

Cadre and Band embarks for Southampton. Moves to Depot Guildford.

5th August

Strength raised to 79 officers and 1169 men by drafts from other battalions.

Clipstone.

7th August

Aldershot.

 

2nd Battalion (2nd Foot)

January

Italy.

15th February

Reduced to Cadre.

21st February

Cadre returns to England by road and rail. At Depot, Guildford.

18th July

Re-formed and moved to Aldershot.

7th August

Victory Parade, London.

6th November

Embarks at Liverpool for India.

25th December

Bombay, then to Bareilly.

 

Mobilised for operations in Waziristan.

Special Reserve

 

3rd Battalion (2nd Royal Surrey Militia)

5th August

Remaining personnel to 1st Battalion.

24th September

Battalion disembodied. Remains on Regimental List until 1953.

Absorbs 1,000 men of 53rd (Young Soldiers) Battalion.

Reduced to Cadre. Officers and men posted to 10th and 11th Battalions.

Disbanded and absorbed back into 4th Battalion.

Disembodied.

Battalion concentrates at Nejef.

Majority of officers and men posted to 1st/5th Surreys.

Embarks at Baghdad and sails via Bombay to Plymouth.
