Commanded 6th Bn The East Surrey Regiment from(14th June 1920 to 9th November, 1925.
Prescott Hallett was born in 1880 and was commissioned in 3rd Vol Bn The East Surrey Regiment in September 1899 and joined Chertsey Detachment. He volunteered for service in South Africa and was part of the 3rd Vol Battalion's contingent which joined the 2nd Battalion. For his service there he was awarded the Queen's Medal with three clasps. Between 1909 and 1911 he served with 1st Australian Infantry Regiment in New South Wales On return to UK he joined the 6th Battalion (successor to 3rd Vol Bn) and in 1913 was promoted major.
He sailed with the 1/6th Battalion to India in 1914 as second-in-command. In April 1915 he was attached to the Staff of 2nd (Rawalpindi) Division and in February 1916 was appointed Brigade Major of 5th (Jhelum) Brigade Indian Army. In November 1918 he was GSO2 15th Indian Division and took part in the Afghan campaign in 1919.
He returned to UK in 1920 and assumed command of the reformed 6th Battalion He was promoted Brevet Colonel in 1924 and retired from the TA on 9th November 1925.
In addition to the Queen's South African Medal he received the 1914 Medal, War Medal, Victory Medal, Indian General Service Medal and Territorial Decoration.
He died on 4th September 1932.
