Brigadier R H Senior, DSO*.,TD.Commanded 1/7th Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from 28th October 1942 to April 1943.

Ronald Henry Senior was born on 3rd July 1904 and educated at Cheltenham College. Ho was commissioned in the 24th London Regiment (later renamed 7th (Southwark) Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment) in April 1924 and in February 1938 became second-in-command of the Battalion. On the doubling of the Territorial Army in 1939 he joined the l/7th Battalion with which he served in France in 1940 as D Company Commander and was awarded the DSO for his leadership. He was Mentioned in Dispatches in 1941.

In May 1942 the Battalion embarked for the Middle East and following the Battle of Alam El Haifa he was appointed to command 5th Bn The Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment. In the initial attack at El Alamein the Commanding Officer of the 1/7th Battalion (Lt Col R M Burton) was killed and in view of his long association with the Battalion he re-burred from the West Kent’s to take command.

For his leadership at the Battle of Medenine he was awarded a bar to the DSO and promoted to command 151st Infantry Brigade of 50th Division which he led until July 1944. In 1945 he commanded 56th Infantry Brigade. From May 1947 to July 1955 he was Honorary Colonel of 622nd (Queen's) HAA Regiment RA (TA), the successor to 7th (Southwark) Battalion.

He died on 2nd March 1988.
