Lt Col H C F Hull DSOCommanded 1st Bn The Queen's Royal Regiment from: 24th December 1934 to 3rd August 1937 and the ITC at Guildford from September 1939 to 18th November 1939 when he died.

Herbert Charles Edward Hull was born on 16th November 1891 and was commissioned in The Queen's Royal Regiment in March 1911.

In the 1914-18 War he served in France and Belgium. He was wounded, awarded the DSO and was twice Mentioned in Despatches.

Between July 1917 and March 1918 he was a GSO 3 and from April 1918 to April 1919 a Brigade Major.

He served with the 1st Battalion in England, Hong Kong, Malta and China and was adjutant of the Battalion from December 1924 to April 1926.

From May to July 1933 he was officer commanding Tientsin Area. He commanded the 1st Battalion from December 1934 to August 1937.

He retired from the Army but was recalled from the Reserve of Officers in 1939 and commanded the ITC at Guildford from September to 18th November 1939 when he had a heart attack and died.
