Appointed Lieutenant Colonel (1937), Commander of 1st Battalion Queen’s Royal Regiment (West Surrey) (1937 – 1938), Colonel Commanding 2nd (Rawalpindi) Infantry Brigade, India (1938) he was mentioned in despatches.
Acting Major General (1941), temporary Major General, District Commander, India (1941), and his post war life.
