Lieutenant General Henry Holmes

1749-1762

Lieutenant Colonel Holmes was appointed to the Colonelcy on 8^th May 1749.

As a Major General in 1756 he was in command when, by reason of an order dated 25^th August 1756, a 2^nd Battalion of the Regiment was raised and which later became the 70^th Regiment.

Promoted to Lieutenant General on 2^nd April 1759, he died in 1762.
